Research Summary
The open-label Phase 1 ReCLAIM study (NCT02848313) reported exploratory low-luminance visual-acuity improvement. The randomized Phase 2 ReCLAIM-2 trial (NCT03891875, n=176) missed both coprimary endpoints: mean low-luminance best-corrected visual-acuity change and geographic atrophy-area change. Secondary ellipsoid-zone measures favored elamipretide but are not a positive primary trial result. A Phase 3 dry AMD trial, ReNEW (NCT06373731), remains registered.
