Tesamorelin Reconstitution Calculator
This calculator is for research and educational purposes only. It performs a simple concentration calculation and does not provide medical advice, dosing recommendations, or treatment guidance. Always consult qualified healthcare providers for any health-related decisions.
Calculator Inputs
- Vial amount (mg): the mass of lyophilized peptide in the vial
- Diluent volume (mL): the volume of bacteriostatic or sterile water added
- Desired dose (mcg): the amount you want to draw per administration
What This Calculator Does
This tool calculates the concentration of a reconstituted Tesamorelin solution based on two inputs: the mass of peptide in the vial and the volume of diluent added. The result tells you how many micrograms (mcg) of peptide are present per unit of volume, which is useful for laboratory preparation and measurement planning.
Typical Research Context
Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) and is supplied as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder requiring reconstitution before use. It is the only GHRH analog to have received FDA approval, granted in 2010 under the brand name Egrifta for the reduction of excess visceral adipose tissue in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy.
| Parameter | Common Research Values |
|---|---|
| Typical vial sizes | 1 mg, 2 mg |
| Common diluent | Bacteriostatic water, sterile water |
| Typical diluent volume | 1–2 mL |
How to Use the Calculator
- Enter the vial amount in milligrams (mg). Check the label or certificate of analysis for the exact mass.
- Enter the diluent volume in milliliters (mL). This is the amount of bacteriostatic water or sterile water you plan to add.
- Enter your desired unit dose in micrograms (mcg) if you want to see how much volume to draw for a specific amount.
- The calculator returns:
- Concentration: mg/mL or mcg/mL
- Volume per dose: how many units (or mL) contain your desired mcg amount
Important Notes
- This is not a dosing tool. We do not provide, suggest, or validate any dose. The calculator only converts between mass and volume based on your inputs.
- Unit consistency matters. The calculator assumes standard metric units. Double-check your vial label for whether the mass is listed in mg or mcg.
- Stability after reconstitution. Reconstituted peptides degrade faster than lyophilized powder. Store reconstituted solutions according to manufacturer or protocol guidelines, typically refrigerated and used within days to weeks.
- Formulation differs by source. Approved Egrifta formulations have their own manufacturer reconstitution instructions that differ between product versions; those instructions govern the approved product and are not interchangeable with generic research handling.
