TB-500 Research for Hair Loss

An evidence-based overview of research examining TB-500 in the context of hair loss. This page synthesizes findings from peer-reviewed literature.

Research Summary

Thymosin beta-4 has been shown to activate hair follicle stem cells in preclinical studies. Research by Philp et al. (2004) demonstrated that Tb4 promotes hair growth by enhancing the migration and proliferation of hair follicle progenitor cells. A follow-up study by Philp et al. (2007) reported that Tb4 induces hair growth via migration and differentiation of follicle stem cells, with increased matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) secretion driving extracellular matrix remodeling during the active growth phase. No human clinical trials have evaluated TB-500 or thymosin beta-4 specifically for hair loss treatment. The preclinical findings, while promising, have not been validated in humans.
