Low Evidence Research Overview

SHLP-2 Research for Metabolic Syndrome

An evidence-based overview of research examining SHLP-2 in the context of metabolic syndrome. This page synthesizes findings from peer-reviewed literature.

Research Summary

SHLP-2 has been studied for its metabolic regulatory effects in preclinical models. Research demonstrated that SHLP-2 activates CXCR7 receptors in hypothalamic POMC neurons, regulating appetite and energy expenditure (Kim et al., 2023). Mouse studies showed protection against high-fat diet-induced obesity. However, all available evidence is preclinical with no human therapeutic trials.
