Pasireotide Research for Acromegaly
An evidence-based overview of research examining Pasireotide in the context of acromegaly. This page synthesizes findings from peer-reviewed literature.
Research Summary
FDA-approved for acromegaly in 2014. The PAOLA trial demonstrated superiority over continued octreotide/lanreotide in inadequately controlled patients (15-20% biochemical control on pasireotide LAR vs 0% on active control, p<0.0001). Also superior to octreotide LAR as first-line medical therapy in treatment-naive patients. Particularly effective in tumors with high SSTR5 expression.
