Research Summary
Preclinical studies demonstrate antifungal activity against Candida species and other fungi. Wakabayashi et al. characterized the antifungal spectrum of lactoferricin B against yeasts and dermatophytes, and Kondori et al. (2010) showed lactoferrin-derived peptides reduced Candida yields in a murine skin infection model. The mechanism involves direct membrane disruption similar to antibacterial action.
