What is actually compared
GHRP-2 is a peptide growth hormone secretagogue. MK-677 (ibutamoren) is an oral nonpeptide ghrelin-receptor agonist. A GHRP-2 study used GH response as a diagnostic-test measure in adults with suspected GH deficiency; it did not test muscle growth or recovery. GHRP-2 diagnostic study, PMID 17609397; FDA ibutamoren review.
In a randomized 65-person healthy older-adult MK-677 study, GH, IGF-1 and fat-free mass increased. Strength and function did not improve significantly, but the study was too small and short to rule out a functional effect. Visceral fat did not significantly decline; fasting glucose rose and insulin sensitivity fell. These findings cannot be transferred to GHRP-2 or turned into a head-to-head ranking. Nass et al., PMID 18981485.
FDA identifies MK-677, MK-0677 and LUM-201 as ibutamoren and says there is no FDA-approved ibutamoren product. NCT06948214, a pediatric LUM-201 Phase 3 registration, was recruiting in the September 29, 2026 official archive; active development is not approval or proven benefit. FDA review.
Neither a source-count total nor the shared secretagogue pathway validates comparative efficacy, compatibility or a combination regimen. This page makes no use recommendation.
